Novel Approaches to Challenging Therapies
Four Distinct Perspectives to Enhance Your Work With All Your Patients
The perspectives and tools we will present will enable you to better understand your patients, how you can feel empowered to be creative with your treatments, how to focus your treatments more precisely to be more effective.
There will be four presenters who will share with you their unique hard-won expertise in addressing challenging therapies. Albert will focus on critical thinking and clinical reasoning. Beatriz will demonstrate how a precise focus on the attachment brain systems changes the trajectory of treatment. Janel will demonstrate interventions to override the most challenging constraints. Joe will introduce us to
the advantages of psychedelic-assisted therapy. These presentations offer you a variety of avenues to better discern what are the obstacles and where are the opportunities to change the trajectory of your treatment with difficult therapies.
Challenging therapies can be frustrating and draining. Often, we find ourselves working harder than our patients. That should tell us that there is something that we are missing. The traumatic circuits exist in a very small, 10%, part of the emotional brain systems, yet they often receive 80-90% of the treatment. This course will enable you access to the unconstrained emotional resources, the other 90%.
Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to answer the following questions.
- What are the two most important variables in successful psychotherapy treatment outcomes?
- How does critical thinking improve psychotherapy?
- What role can the therapeutic attachment relationship play in difficult therapies?
- Which brain system enhancers can add energy to difficult therapies?
- Name two lenses through which to assess difficult therapies.
- Name two interventions with which to focus therapeutic energy in difficult therapies.
- What is meant by psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy?
- How can psychedelics be used to enhance psychotherapy
Goals of this training program are:
- Provide precise up-to-date neurobiological knowledge to enhance the understanding of each clinician.
- Enable each participant to better appreciate and expand their own competencies.
- Emphasize the most important factors in successful psychotherapeutic outcomes.
- Receive practical guidance and training to improve their performance providing psychotherapeutic assessments and treatments.
This course has been designed for therapists who are new to CIMBS and will provide many novel learning opportunities for therapists who have studied CIMBS for years.
Therapeutic Outcomes:
Our goal is to enable our patients/clients to become the author of their own lives, capable of making the best of any situation, continuously learning, and growing to the full extent of the neuroplasticity of their brains and fulfilling their lives.
